Donna, I hope the media is being accurate. Otherwise, the next warning of impending disaster will NOT be heeded and thus cause injury to far more people than over-hyping a storm for ratings. I still remember hurricane HUGO when it struck in Philly. So I will be comparing this storm to HUGO and gauging the over-hype on that basis.

Do News media conglomerates own supermarkets -- if not then why not, you certainly cause more sales? Perhaps that would help to explain the phenomena of over-hype. Certainly it is to produce ratings but that strategy too will fail long term if people get a sense it should just ignore the media.

Well, I'm outside of Philly too. No rain. No wind at all. Lots of humidity though! I think the news media are making everyone panic. It is hard to believe such a huge storm is coming when it is so quiet outside. They say it should hit our area in the middle of tonight. Let's see!
